A Message from JD Madrid, Program Director DSBC
Scratch whatever you THOUGHT you knew about Dripping Springs Baseball.
Flush the rumors. Bring the chirp.
I’m proud to head an unwavering commitment to development with a reviving force of confidence in leadership for our community. The rebranding of our reputation has begun. My goal is to empower our staff of experienced coaches to lead by example on and off the field. We’re not new to the game. It’s ALWAYS been about more than just baseball.
Our principles and standards will carry us through hard times as we fuel belief with truly passionate, blue collar coaching.
I’ll tell you now, this isn’t for everyone. We will maintain a relentless approach to creating a culture where our student athletes will be encouraged to rise to the occasion weekly. We’re not here to move mountains of adversity, because we understand that teaching our students to climb mountains for themselves is the integral tool they will have to learn to use not only for today but for vital character building to show later on in life.
Structured ecological practice methods with a high demand for pushing the limit is the backbone of our development. Ingraining fearless instincts through toughness and a high attention to detail will be part of our daily focus. Elevated levels of preparation will drive our ability to think slowly and play fast, and most importantly be receptive to lessons we must recognize on this endeavor.
Again, it’s not for everyone. We’re okay with that. I’m not here to curate a style of baseball to fulfill desires of comfort. I’m here to encourage discomfort. I’m here to jump start the need for young boys to become young men so they can pay it forward when their community calls for them to lead the next generation of ballplayers behind them.
While we FULLY support our brothers in DSYSA Recreational learning environments, the separation between the two levels of expectations will be clear. This is select baseball. Roster spots are earned. Playing time is earned. Our coaching staff knows wholeheartedly that this game, in being congruent with life, will never give you what you THINK you deserve. We’re here to prepare your son for when that time comes.
I’m on this journey with you. While we have historically been leaders of community inclusion, introducing a branch of philanthropy to our organization has always been a driving factor for me. Community service programming led by current varsity baseball players at DSHS and mentorship from former Tigers navigating their college paths will remain one of the pillars to our success.
In our pursuit to having fun, we must first understand the responsibility and privilege we have to play and share a game we all love. That will never be forgotten and our successes will be highlighted with encouragement, genuine care, belief in one another, and celebrated through our largest source of energy… understanding the meaning of family.
It won’t always be smooth sailing and I understand that. Relentless persistent belief in pouring my heart into this town is exactly where I want to be. I have an unmatchable aspiration to bring baseball fluency, passion, and grit back to our town.
The bias…gone.
The support… it’s arrived.
Excuses…take ’em somewhere else.
Shortcuts…NOT INTERESTED.
Confidence…earned.
Welcome to OUR family.
Welcome to DRIP BASEBALL.
